Wardrobe Essentials // Boyfriend Jeans

Welcome to the first post in the Wardrobe Essentials series!   As stated in my return blog post, this series will highlight some of the key items that I consider to be essential staple pieces in every fashionista’s wardrobe!  Some I currently have (so I’ll start with those first) and others I have yet to acquire, but in due time…

So without further ado, let’s start things off with the first piece: Boyfriend Jeans. 

Now to be completely honest, I have never owned a pair of boyfriend jeans until….probably 3 or 4 weeks ago. Oh for shame…smh.  But I’ve always wanted a pair!  For some reason though, whenever I would try them on, they would look super weird on me.  But I finally picked up this distressed pair from American Eagle at a recent BOGO sale they were having and they fit wonderfully.

The great thing about boyfriend jeans is that they have a super relaxed, comfortable fit and can be dressed up a bit or kept laid back and dressed down.  Here are two of my favorite ways to style boyfriend jeans:

DRESS IT UP

I really like wearing boyfriend jeans with a pair of heels, whether they’re classic pumps or high heeled strappy sandals as in the outfit below.

DRESS IT DOWN

Pairing with a simple V-neck tee and platform trainers keeps the boyfriend jeans in purest form: relaxed, chill, and easy to wear.  I just added a colorful scarf to add a bit of spice to the look.
