Dressed To A T #63: 25th Birthday Part 1/ Sheer Leather -Leggings!

Hey guys!  So first of all, THANK YOU so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday this past weekend and those who voted on which outfit I should wear on my birthday, which is being revealed in this post!

I was on call Friday night and it was insanely busy, so most of the day on Saturday was spent sleeping.  I know. Womp womp.  But after I woke up I was definitely able to celebrate and enjoy the evening.  The bf cooked dinner (and y’all know I love me some food!) and then we went to see Paula Patton’s newest movie “Baggage Claim” which was predictable, but super cute!  Lots of fine bruthahs for the women out there and lots of eye candy for the fellas as well.  And I just have to say, Jill Scott is FAHN!  Baby girl played that voluptuous vixen role DOWN!  Yes Lawd!  Definitely check out the movie and support Black films (^_^).

Now on to the outfit!

After a not so tight race….

As you can see I tried out the butter LONDON nail polish line for the first time.  I’ve seen the line several times but never purchased because…well…each polish costs $15. Yah.  But This was literally the EXACT color that I had in mind to complement my outfit look.  I pretty much wanted a polish that looked like liquid copper on my nails.  So I splurged.  Plus it was my birthday so why not? (please Jesus be a fence around my bank account!)

I definitely had a great time celebrating my birthday this weekend.  And luckily the fun isn’t over!  I’ll be home in the DMV celebrating with my friends and family this weekend and of course I’ll be sharing my outfit with you guys as Part 2 of the 25th Birthday series!  And expect to see something a little different. Rapunzel status is the only hint I’ll give…lol.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you so much for continuing to stop by and support the blog!  I really appreciate it!

Love and God Bless,

The Hymn Challenge 2013!

Hey guys!  So you guys know how much I love music and singing and Jesus lol.  Well, when I found out that my friend Larwin (check out his YouTube channel HERE) started this challenge called “The Hymn Challenge 2013” I was super excited and definitely wanted to participate.  I shared a video of me singing “God Will Take Care of You” that I uploaded probably 2 years ago not thinking that I’d have time to record and upload anything new BUT where there’s a will, there’s a way and God provided that way for me to share again!

The hymn that I decided to sing to participate is Hymn #485 (as you’ll see in the video, I definitely forgot the number…shame shame shame) “I Must Tell Jesus”.  It’s one of my all time favorites.  Find out why by checking out the video below then later, find out how to participate in The Hymn Challenge 2013!

So if you love hymns as much as Larwin and I do, here’s how you can participate!

#1.  Check out THIS VIDEO for instructions on how to participate.
#2.  Join the Facebook group linked HERE.

Help Me Choose My 25th Birthday Outfit (^_^)

Hello there!  I hope you guys are having a great Thursday!  It’s almost the weekend!  You can make it!

So as most of you know, I’m turning 25 this weekend (Saturday, September 28 to be exact).  I definitely plan on doing some low key celebrating, nothing big this weekend since I’ll be post-call *le sigh*.  But!  I’ll definitely be dressing up nonetheless!  And this is where I need your help!

My outfit theme (yes…I have an outfit theme…don’t judge me. lol) is “All Black Errthang” and revolves around these two pieces:

Now these aren’t the exact pieces that I have but they’re pretty similar (and the closest thing I could find on Polyvore):  A sheer black draped top and a pair of studded black suede cutout booties (more details to come in the pending outfit post next week!)

Option #1:

Option #2:

Which one do you like better for my 25th Birthday outfit??? Cast your vote below in the comments section or head over to Instagram to cast your vote there.  I can’t wait to see what you guys choose and stay tuned for next week’s post to find out what I decided to wear.

Until then…

Best Dressed To A T: 2013 Emmys

Hey Guys!   Anyone that knows me well, knows that I live for any and all awards shows, my favorite being those involving music, such as the Grammys, BET Awards, MTV VMAs, etc.  But I also enjoy the ones celebrating television and film, such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and the Emmys.  I love watching the performances and, of course, seeing the fashion!

So even though I know that a lot of other bloggers do this (as in, a round-up of their best and worst dressed at various celebrity events and award shows), I figured that this could be another way for you guys to get an even better feel for my personal style.  I can let you guys know whose looks I loved most from the red carpets and hopefully you’ll share your faves with me as well 🙂

So with that said, welcome to a new series on the blog:

BEST DRESSED TO A T:

2013 EMMYS EDITION

**in no particular order**

Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang, Emmy Awards, 2013

Red.  Lace.  Mermaid with slight train.  Cleavage galore and that perfect body.  As always, Sofia Vergera hit it out of the park.

Michelle Dockery, Emmy Awards, 2013

I am a sucker for well-executed colorblocking, and this Prada dress on Michelle Dockery executed it to perfection.  And I love her hair and accessories as well!

Carrie Underwood, Emmy Awards, 2013

Carrie Underwood’s style is another that i completely adore.  You can always count on her to give you America’s sweetheart with a splash of high fashion.

The color and the fit of this dress on Maria’s body are just everything. That’s all.

Kerry Washington, Emmy Awards, 2013

My dear, dear Kerry Washington.  A completely heavenly vision in this floral gown by Marchesa.  Kerry wins every time. That is all.

Sarah Paulson, Emmy Awards, 2013

The color and the daring neckline on this dress are what sold me immediately.  I lowkey want a modified knee-length version of it in my closet….And the bow at the front adds just the slightest hint of innocence and sweetness.  I love it.

Morena Baccarin Emmy Awards, 2013

Now THIS is how pregnancy fashion should look.  Job well done Morena Baccarin and team.  Kim Kardashian, this could have and SHOULD have been you. I shall say no more on this matter….

So there you have it!  Those were my favorite looks from this year’s Emmy Awards Red Carpet!  This was actually kind of fun.  I think I’ll do it again for the next Awards Show on the horizon…

Did you have a favorite look from the Emys this year? Who was it?   Leave your comments below, I’d love to hear who and what you loved.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Loot

Happy Hump Day everyone!

So as most of you have already heard by now, the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Collection was definitely a huge success and is pretty much sold out online.  Some local stores do still have some items in stock, but finding your size might be the challenge.

I was luckily able to get a few things in my size through some online shopping early Sunday morning followed by a trip to my local Target later that day just to see what the items looked like in real life.

image

I originally wasn’t planning on buying any of the bags from the collection, but this black crossbody bag was definitely something for which I’d been searching!  With the straps tucked in, it can be a chic satchel/clutch w/ a handle to further enhance a polished look (planning on wearing it that way to church this weekend).

Hopefully everything fits well!  I may end up returning the paper floral print shirtdress since by the time I ordered it, only Medium and up were available as far as sizes.  I figured I could wear it with a skinny black belt to cinch in the waist but…idk; depending on how it looks it may be going back lol.

This will probably be one of the last clothing hauls for this year for me.  Definitely on the path to being more financially responsible as mentioned in my recent reflections post.  Only big  purchases for me will be from the upcoming RiRi ❤ MAC collection and then MAYBE this pair of brown riding boots from H&M that I’ve had my eye on for the past month, since I’ve been on the hunt for a good pair for YEARS.  Other than that, my mantra will be SAVE, SAVE, SAVE, pay bills, buy groceries, return tithe, give offering, then SAVE, SAVE, SAVE some more!  I definitely have some financial goals set for myself so hopefully by God’s grace I can achieve them.  One paycheck at a time 🙂

Were you able to get any of the items you wanted from the #philliplimfortarget collabo?  I’d love to see what you chose so comment below!

Til next time,

Love and God Bless,

Dressed To A T #62: Sunday Brunch in These Streets

Hey Guys!

I’ve definitely been experimenting more with elements of streetwear as of late.  On this particular Sunday, I went out to brunch with one of my co-residents (Hey Lauren!) and I knew that I definitely wanted to wear my new cuffed distressed denim shorts that I got on an awesome sale at bebe one afternoon after work.  So I came up with this look (bought the shoes at Target the night before brunch; yes, I like to plan ahead…lol):

It turned out super cute and definitely suited the warm weather.

I’m so glad that the warmth is lingering for JUST a little bit longer.  Fall I can tolerate…but winter *sigh*. Can I escape to Miami for 4 months? No Oh…okay… ( ._.)

LOL  Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you enjoyed the look and let me know what you think!
