Wine & Dine // Getting Fall & Winter Ready w/ Starbucks

Happy October everyone!

Just wanted to put up a quick post to share with you how I’m getting fall and winter ready this year!  I decided that because Winter is like THE worst ever for me (it’s cold….no sunlight…I have to wear LAYERS of clothes…y’all I don’t like wearing clothes lol), I would make a conscious effort to get winterized.  Wardrobe and lifestyle.  So started off with a quick Starbucks haul!

For my birthday, Starbucks sent me a coupon code for 15% off online orders and took that opportunity to stock up on WAAAAY too much hot chocolate and this new Vanilla Caramel Chai latte. I. Am. SO! Excited lol.

Now I’m definitely feeling a little better about the cold weather to come. Chocolate makes everything better, doesn’t it? 😉

Until next time…

Out & About // Greek Fest

I absolutely LOVE food!  And over the last few years, I’ve developed a fondness for Greek and Mediterranean food.  I mean, who knew that feta cheese and olives could make EVERYTHING taste better?! It’s genius I tell you! lol

This weekend, two of my co-residents (Hey Nidhi & Tasha if you’re reading!) and I ventured out to a Greek Food Festival in our area and the food was AMAZING!  I actually wish I had another gyro right now….

The weather was absolutely gorgeous that day so I kept it nice and light with this light blue romper that I purchased from H&M a couple years ago that has cute little hearts on it that give a polka dot effect (LOVE!) and some nude/beige sandals that I bought from a Banana Republic Factory Outlet store two summers ago.

By the way….I am absolutely in love with this orange nail polish called “Mango Mamma” by Loreal Paris USA (“Tangerine” from Loreal Paris USA is quite similar).  It compliments my skin tone so well and is such an awesomely vibrant color for the spring and summer.

Oh and side note, I tried to record a “Get Ready With Me” makeup video for you guys…but my MacBook Air decided it didn’t want to cooperate that day 😦  But here was the final look:

Purely by chance, we all had our Coach purses and of course our sunnies! 🙂

It’s always fun to hang out with my co-residents outside of work.  They’re so much fun to be around!  I ♥ them so much! 🙂

Did you guys get to enjoy the awesome weather this weekend?  I absolutely loved it.  This is by far my favorite time of year for sure.  Can’t wait to spend more time outdoors doing lots of fun stuff.  To be continued this weekend… 😉

Until next time….

Out & About // Memorial Day @ National Harbor

Did you guys have a great Memorial Day weekend?  I sure did!  Back to work the graveyard shift for the rest of this week but still so happy that I was able to enjoy such a great weekend.

I spent my Memorial Day Monday with my prayer partners and very close friends Nat & Yatta (seen here on the blog before) catching up at the National Harbor.  I’m so so happy to have such great girlfriends (I’m really blessed to have quite a few!) that I can talk to freely about anything, celebrate everything, share one another’s burdens, and pray for each other.  That’s SUPER rare these days unfortunately and I’m SO grateful that God has blessed me with women like them 🙂

The National Harbor has definitely come up since I was last there!  Being there really just made me miss the DMV even more…*says silent prayer about Fellowship Match*

We had lunch at Redstone American Grill, which recently opened up its National Harbor location this spring.  The food, service, and setting were amazing and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that’s looking for good eats at the DMV area.  Honestly, there are tons of great restaurants at the National Harbor (Rosa Mexicano is another one of my favorites.  That Guac!  Yes LAWD!).

It was a really hot day (just the way I like it! Hehehe) so I wore one of my favorite dresses, this lightweight black and white polka dotted fit and flare mini-dress with an adorable sweetheart neckline.  My hair was slicked back into a tight low bun (mainly because my fresh press had been tainted by some moisture from the shower the day prior…lol) which was awesome for keeping my hair out of the way on this hot day.  I wore my favorite glossy red lipstick, MAC’s Deeply Adored from the limited edition Marilyn Monroe collection, and accessorized with cute black sandals that I got a few years ago from Topshop and my Phillip Lim for Target Crossbody faux leather bag.

All in all…I had an amazing day and weekend.  Sometimes, a little time with friends and spending time with family at home is exactly what you need to rejuvenate you for the next leg of your journey.

How did you spend your Memorial Day weekend?  I’d love to hear what fun stuff you did!  Leave your comments below 🙂

Until next time…

In a Cooking Mood…

I don’t know if you guys could tell this from my love for food, but I also really enjoy cooking a lot as well.  I mean…I guess I’d have to since I enjoy eating so much lol.

But I deccided to share this with you guys because I’ve been wanting to try out some new-ish recipes for a while because I feel like I’ve gotten comfortable (and so has my family) with me cooking the same things when I do get in the mood to cook.  Now I don’t know if this will be a regular thing on the blog (I’m no DeliciousLee Edible lol) So tomorrow, I decided that I would try out some new recipes, most courtesy of the LOVELY Alicia over at The Inner Gourmet (who also happens to be Guyanese-American).  I’ve tried out one of her recipes before (the Louisiana Style Pasta with Chicken) and it turned out really really good!

So here’s what I’ll be trying out tomorrow (and hopefully I’ll share my experiences with you guys soon 🙂 ):

– Fried Lemon Pepper Wings (kinda making up the recipe as I go along; but I’ve made good fried chicken/wings before so how hard can it be???)

– Spicy Scalloped Potatoes (using Monterey Jack Cheese instead of parmesan to give the recipe an added kick)

– Sponge Cake (I’ve never made a cake from scratch so this should be a fun an interesting experience)

So stay tuned for my experiences with these recipes and hopefully you guys will be interested in giving some of them a shot as well.

Love and God Bless,

DeliciousLee Edible! ~ My Review :-)

Hey everyone!  So if you know ANYTHING about me, you know that food is my best friend.  Okay not really, but I LOVE to eat and enjoy good food!  So when one of my friends, Leander (Lee for short 🙂 ), told me that she was starting up a food blog I was ecstatic!  The name of her blog is DeliciousLee Edible.  Check her out and sign up to FOLLOW her blog.  She’ll be posting recipes, food pics, and reviews of her dishes (by moi and others 🙂 )  She’s an AMAZING cook and every single dish she prepares makes your taste buds do the dougie.  And that’s not an exaggeration…

As part of her food blogging experience, she enlisted the help of myself and our friend Natalie (you guys remember me talking about Natalie and HER blog before, right?) to be guinea pigs for some of her recipes! *SWOON!*  I gladly accepted the oh so difficult responsibility to try out her amazing food and then give a review right here on my blog.

Here’s a picture of the dish that I got the chance to devour and now will review 🙂

Yeah…I know. You’re jealous lol.

So let’s do this!

1.  Herb Salmon – Man, this salmon was the definition of “well-seasoned”!  I don’t know what she seasoned it with, but the flavors got my tongue excited!  Like she mentioned, it was a little bit on the dryer side, but I’ll take a little dry and well seasoned versus moist and bland ANY day.  Rating:  ★★★★

2.  Carrot Rice – Honestly, I’ve never been a big fan of carrots.  And before that night I never had carrot rice.  But let me TELL you!  That rice was on point!  The grains were perfectly cooked, not too firm, not too soft.  And again…seasoned perfectly to taste. Mmmm…I can still taste it in my mind’s palate.  Rating:  ★★★★★

3.  Seared Green Beans & Baby Spinach – Once again, perfectly seasoned!  And the veggies were cooked well.  Not mushy but far from raw as well. Rating:

4.  Parmesan Garlic Bread – I’m not the biggest fan of bread, but I LOVE me some good garlic bread!  This garlic bread was toasted to perfection but still soft.  The garlicky butter taste was perfectly executed without being overwhelming.  And the cheese sprinkled on top definitely added the extra somethin’ somethin’ to take the bread over the top. (plus, I love cheese! 🙂 ) Rating:

So my overall rating for this meal is a solid 4.75/5 stars.  I cannot WAIT to review another DeliciousLee Edible creation!

To see more details about the dish I reviewed, click HERE!  And don’t forget to follow Lee’s blog and leave comments so she can stay motivated and consistent (and make more food for me!  To review of course lol)

Love and God Bless,

– T
