BROADWAY WEEK // Chicago starring BRANDY!

Yup!  Got the chance to go see another Broadway play in a week’s time.  This time, went to see Brandy Norwood in the starring role of Roxie Hart in Chicago The Musical.

Little known fact about me: I absolutely love Brandy as an actress.  I’ve loved her since the days of Moesha.  AND one of my all time favorite movies is Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Whitney Houston and of course, Brandy.  She’s such a beautiful person, actress, singer, and just overall talent.

When I tell you Brandy played the HECK out of Roxie Hart….she did such an amazing job.  I absolutely loved every second of her performance.  And of course, the rest of the cast was great as well!

Brandy’s run in Chicago continues until June 21st  August 2nd!  So if you’re able to, GO!

Well hello hello!  Yes, I’m back from oblivion. I have absolutely missed blogging and sharing my life with you all. But I’ll skip the disclaimers and get right to the good stuff….today’s blog post! That’s kinda why you’re actually here isn’t it?! Exactly….lol

So I finally….FINALLY made it to New York to see a Broadway Show!  And not just any show, probably one of THE best: THE LION KING!  Shout out to my lovely lady friends Nat, Lee, and Jeannee for the invite (and to God for allowing me to have Memorial Day weekend off)!

The show was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Like, amazing doesn’t even begin to describe how great it was to be honest….definitely a MUST SEE!

Out & About + Dressed To A T // Love Me Like XO

Usually when my family and I head to New York to visit family, it’s really lowkey and chill.  We don’t usually go out anywhere….ever lol.  But my brother (Jamal) and sister (Tanya) decided that they were tired of not making moves every time we came and pretty much told us that we were going to go to Coney Island, and that was the end of that discussion.  It ended up being a lot of fun!!!  I didn’t realize until we got there that things looked familiar…..and this is probably why…. 🙂

Yeah…didn’t realize it until my sister pointed it out lol.  I actually don’t remember ever going to Coney Island ever…but according to my dad when I was much younger we took a trip there.  Totally doesn’t count lol.

POP UP POST // Out & About + Dressed To A T – Main Street Bethlehem Brunch

By far, one of my favorite things about this time of year is Sunday Brunching it with great friends.  This past weekend, headed out to Bethlehem with my co-residents to enjoy the weather and have some great food (we LOVE to eat…lol).  The food was great and we enjoyed a nice short trip to Seasons Olive Oil & Vinegar Taproom

image
image

I had never been to a specialty vinegar or olive oil store before but as you can see, the selection was overwhelming!  There were so many different flavors of vinegar (there was a Dark Chocolate infused vinegar that I could just imagine would be HEAVENLY over a fresh fruit salad in the summer) and various olive oils infused with various scents and spices as well!  I have to say, I felt very fancy and grown up in that store for some reason…lol

I did end up purchasing a few things from Seasons….

image

So yeah…I bought this with no intention of cooking with it lol.  I do usually use Olive Oil mixed into my deep conditioner or pre-poo and also on my face, mixed with my Oil of Oregano and Tea Tree Oil (more on that to come soon in my updated skincare regimen).  This Blood Orange infused Olive Oil smelled SO amazing.  I cannot wait until my braids are out and I start deep conditioning again.  I know the aroma is just going to be…everything….

I also bought two amazingly scented soaps that I am just eagerly anticipating to use in the shower.  The Blood Orange scent permeated the packaging and just tickled my nose oh so deeply.  Then there was a Lavender scented soap that was just so…*sigh* I know it’s going to be a perfect stress-reliever in a few months when life gets quite busy once again.

Oh yeah….and here’s what I wore 🙂

POP UP POST // Guyana Day in NYC

This past weekend I got to spend some time with my family and old friends celebrating Guyana Day in Brooklyn, New York!  For those of you who may not know, Guyana Day is basically like SDA Campmeeting for Guyanese Adventists that live in the states.  Except inside and….a lot longer lol.  But it’s so much fun!

The church where the event took place is one that we’ve been going to for several years and it has THE most beautiful stained glass windows!

My sibs and I had lots of fun being cute and taking selfies in the beautiful BK streets (okay….I had most of the fun, they were not too amused by my paparazzi-ism…lol).

wpid-img_20140614_163659.jpg

I wore one of my favorite floral dresses and my favorite bold matte pink lip for the occasion and swept my Senegalese twists to the side for the day.
