Magnetic Nail Polish!

Last week I went to my local dry cleaners to drop of some things and decided to take a trip to the beauty supply store right next to it.  And let me tell you! I stumbled upon the coolest thing!

Now I had actually heard about this concept a few months ago when I received an email from Sephora about a UK based company called Nails Inc. who was pushing this very concept.  See the video below:

However…the only turn off for me was the fact that each bottle of polish costs about $16.00.  No ma’am!  I’m sure it’s totally epic and quite long wearing but…nah.

So when I came across the very same type of polish at my local beauty supply store by Nabi Cosmetics for only $2.99, I HAD to check them out!

Nabi has 30 colors and three different magnetic designs (compared to Nails Inc. with only 5 polish shades and one type of magnetic design) and works exactly like the Nails Inc. polishes as demo’d in the video above.  The only difference is that the Nabi polishes don’t have an over-cap for you to remove and set to the side so it can get tricky if you want to use the magnet design on the top of the polish you’re using.  I got around this because I had two and applied one color while using the magnet from the other to place above my nail.   But either way, it can be done…just with a little more hassle.  Initially I only bought these two colors because I didn’t want to invest in anything that I wasn’t sure I’d like.

So last Friday night I tried it out and I was soooo HYPE about the result! I shared this pic with my friends on Instagram and they, as well as everyone that saw my nails within the last week, LOVED them!

And the best thing is I think it has really great staying power.  Of course I used a base coat and a top coat with the polish because it’s second nature lol. But even so it lasted a really long time!  Here’s a pic of how my nails look even today:

I was so impressed by this new product that I went out and got a few more colors 🙂

Can’t wait to play with them all!  And you can follow me on Instagram to see pics of these polishes coming up and even more random images from me.

Hope you guys get to check out Nabi and their lovely magnetic nail polishes sometime soon!

Til next time…

Drug Store Haul! Walgreens & CVS

So I finally got around to going out and getting some things that I’ve been eyeing via YouTube and other blogs around the web that I haven’t been able to find for some time.  Got some tips from the Gurus as to where to find some of these items and I’m glad I listened.

So let’s get started!

Night Time Facial Cleansing Towelettes – CVS Brand

– I raved about the Ponds brand of this product in my last Favorites Video. But for some season I have not been able to find it in stock every time I go to the drugstores.  The set I have hasn’t run out yet but just wanted to have reinforcements ready anyway.  Hopefully I like these just as much.

Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner

– Back to old faithful. In case you didn’t know this is THE best drugstore creme eyeliner out there, and definitely one of the best period.  It was about time for me to replace my eyeliner (I’ve definitely had it for at least 4-5 months…no bueno; you’re supposed to replace items like eyeliner and mascara every 3 months soooo…yeah I’ve been failing smh) so took this opportunity to do just that 🙂

Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows

– I’ve been hearing SO MUCH about these bad boys right here and I’ve been dying to try them.  I finally found out that they were available at Walgreens and CVS so I definitely hopped on it!  I still want to get two more colors (there’s purple and a teal that I have my eyes on…), but they weren’t in stock at either CVS or Walgreens, so hopefully I’ll be able to get them soon:-)

Burt’s Bee’s Sugar Scrub and Body Butter in “Honey & Shea” Scent

– So I realized that my body care regimen didn’t include exfoliating my skin (other than the skin on my face) on a regular basis *hangs head* Yeah, I’ve been missing out on life.  And recently I also decided that I wanted to start using body butters instead of lotions. Lotions have never really done much in the way of KEEPING my skin well moisturized though out the day.  The good thing about body butters is that they have the best of both worlds: MOISTURE (by way of water) and SEALANTS (by way of oils).

Now the reason I liked the Burt’s Bees Body Butter was because the very first ingredient was water; and you guys know how I feel about that; ANY legit moisturizer should have water as its first ingredient or it’s not worth my time.  The very next ingredient is Sunflower Seed Oil and then after that is my FAVE: GLYCERIN! The oh so awesome humectant that helps draw moisture into the skin and hair.

So I’m excited to see how this body butter experience pans out 🙂

– I’ve been hearing so much about these nail polishes! I actually picked up a few more earlier but they were the old formula (which was GREAT as it was actually!  Smooth application, glossy finish, long wear…LOVE!). Not to mention they’re just $2 a piece which is AWESOME! I just grabbed a few colors that I wanted to add to my nail polish collection (speaking of which…I really need to get a new storage plan for my nail polishes…but I digress).

The colors that I got were:

Break The Ice

I Need a RefreshMint

That mint green color! *swoon* …I am so looking forward to trying that out. Don’t know how it’ll look on me but hey, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained” right? 🙂

So that’s it for my little drugstore haul.  I hope you all enjoyed this post and feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below 🙂

Guyanese Pride!

This past Sabbath at church was International Day, which was basically a Sabbath dedicated to celebrating the diversity of the members of our church. We literally have almost every culture represented and I LOVE it!  It was soooo much fun 🙂

Some of you may not know, but I am originally from Georgetown, Guyana (that’s where I was born and lived til I was 7 years old).  So of course, I had to find some way to represent!  Figuring out how was the tricky part. Each church member was to incorporate either the colors of their national flag or their country’s traditional garb for church on Sabbath morning.  Well…that caused a dilemma, because my flag has 5 colors and I was STRUGGLING to figure out what to do.

So instead, I opted to incorporate in my outfit just the black, yellow and white (sorry no pics for that 😦 ) and went creative on my nails. What did I do???? I came up with a nail design of the flag! 🙂

Yes, it was pretty messy looking but I still LOVED it! lol

It actually wasn’t that hard to do, but…getting it neat was another story lol.  Maybe I’ll do a YouTube tutorial. What do you guys think? 🙂

Black Polish – Kiss Nail Art Paint in “Black”
Yellow polish – Kiss Nail Art Paint in “Yellow”
